The decor, ambiance and menu are all superbly matched and well suited for lunchtime dining. We were a table of three and between us we opted for three different starters: fresh asparagus with chopped egg and white anchovy; artichoke vinaigrette; and fior de late with red peach, tomato and basil. We all thoroughly enjoyed our fare and couldn't find fault with the dishes. For mains, all three of us opted for the fillet bearnaise with fries which was perfectly cooked. The bearnaise sauce was really superb. There were many other tables present for Restaurant Week and they also seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the other mains options, which were salmon fish cakes, roast chicken or melanzane. To finish the meal off, I also opted to pay extra and take an additional dessert course, which was a slice of carrot cake, one of the best I've ever had. Glenda's comes well recommended.
As soon as I entered Glenda's at Hyde Square, I felt a sense of peace. The service was welcoming and attentive. And the food was sublime. I am going back this week. The value for money was really really good
the starters were excellent. Read full reviewthe starters were excellent. The main meal was a choice of 3 dishes, of which only 2 were available. 3 of us had the mussels which were so loaded with chili and garlic that they were unpleasant and the other 3 of us had lamb chops and artichokes. The meat was tough, break chops were served, overly well done and very hard to chew. The artichokes were served with the outer prickly leaves attached, unacceptable. dessert was a joke, chocolate pudding was one small scoop of mousse served on a side plate with runny cream. zero effort to make it look like anything and based on what the other tables around us received, the set menu was poor in comparison. i will say that the starter was excellent, but it went downhill fast after that. This is my first time booking through restaurant week and i must say i will more than likely cancel the other 2 reservations i have made at different places so that I am not disappointed like this again. A lot of money for poor food. i feel like no effort was made because we were the set menu people.
We enjoyed an exceptional meal at Glenda's on Friday the 28th of April. We had booked knowing that there would be a set menu with 3 courses, however we didn't expect the huge variety of options for each course. The food was beautifully presented, the service was exceptional and we'll definitely be back.
Beautiful place, full of light and colour.Wonderfully creative menu, deliciously prepared and presented.Everyone kind and helpful as I was using a wheelchair due to a fractured leg. Will definitell be back.

About Glenda Lederle
After creating and nurturing the beloved Patisserie in Johannesburg’s Illovo for 10 years, Glenda Lederle sold in 2002 and moved to start up the infinitely popular, Katerina’s restaurant at Kurland Estate outside of Plettenberg Bay.
It was at the Patisserie that Glenda became renowned for her beautifully presented pastries and cakes however not many people know that in 2013 & 2014, Glenda decided to travel the world. She trained in some of Europe & America’s top kitchens from ‘The Red Rooster’ in New York City, to the acclaimed ‘Petersham Nursery’ & world famous ‘River Café’ in London to Four Seasons Michelin starred restaurant in Berlin.
Having returned home in May 2015 to seek out a new spot for her restaurant, Glenda bided her time until the right location presented itself. Glenda’s in Hyde Square is now open for breakfast, lunch, tea, after work drinks and dinner. There is also a ‘choux choux’ lounge for quaffing champagne and ‘Dotty Choux’ the takeaway patisserie counter specialising in Choux Pastry.
