Read full reviewWe booked for Restaurant Week at Neethlingshof for lunch today, wanting to try out some items from the new menu under newly appointed head chef Brendan Stein. We were very blessed with perfect weather so our table outside under the oak trees was a real treat. We opted for the 3 course set menu, which included options I'd never normally order but which, I ended up being very happy with. Starters was a baby beetroot salad with gorgeous creamy goats cheese and these wonderful balsamic jellies, which was a delightful light start to our meal. Mains was pork belly - something I never order because more often than not it ends up being disappointing - today however it was not, it was rather amazing. The belly was perfectly cooked and the sauce to die for. There were also some crispy chilli rice balls that I'd gladly order a full plate of because they were so tasty. Dessert however was the real winner for me. I admittedly love pretty things and when the plate was set down in front of me - it was exactly that. Listed as Lemon Curd on the menu, it was an explosion of flavours from tart lemon curd, sweet meringue, crispy biscuits and sweet white chocolate aero. I was in heaven. All in all, it was a wonderful afteroon out under the trees with good food and great service.
Food was excellent. Presentation absolutely beautifull, flavours and use of spices and herbs superb. All complemented by great Neethlingshof wines. Efficient and friendly service. Wrll worth a visit.

We were rather surprsied to note the thin paper serviettes, instead of something a little more suitable for an up-market restaurant. The waiter was attentive and took our order soon. the kitchen took rather long to perform, but what arrived was very good indeed! The glass of wine served, on the house, was also very enjoyable, as were the coffee and friandise.
