Octopus was really not a pleasant experience. Dirty soup glass. Red wine pairing as advertised on the menu was not available on the day - and wanted to replace it with a cheaper wine blend at the same price. Restaurant is not Restaurant Week quality. Kids running around due to function on the veranda...even though the restaurant "normally" doesn't allow kids.
The evening was supberb, from the styling to the friendly service to the food. The wine list is exceptional as well. De kloof really put thought into the restaurant week offering with a great selection of dishes. Compliments to the chef for delivering mouthwatering dishes.
It is a great location and we had a table with a lovely view. We were welcomed with a glass of MCC. The staff were very friendly and they explained all the dishes to us. We had a menu for restaurant week with a choice between three starters, three mains and two desserts. We enjoyed a nice evening out with friends.

Read full reviewThe setting at De Kloof is great. We were alone in the restsurant for a long time before another couple joined us. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable but in our opinion their dress was inappropriate for a fine dining restaurant. The biggest problem was the food. Starter was okay but bland. Main meal was not warm and different elements had different temperatures. The chef served the main meal and apologised that the red lentils were finished so he replaced it with wheat. We felt that it should have been communicated before preparing the meal. Some of the elements on the plate were good and some were very tasteless. Dessert was okay. Definitely not worth the money, will not go back there.
A brilliant unconventional menu, and extremely tasty dishes...
