We have seen the view from other places in the Hemel and Aarde Valley, but it still is breathtaking. We both made different choices with all courses and they were all devine and nicely presented. Also the wine was much better than we remembered from those early days. All in all we regret that we just passed this restaurant so many times without eating there, but we will surely go there again in the near future.

We we're here for restaurant week, and had the most amazing food experience. Superfriendly staff, stunning views over the Heaven and Earth valley and vineyards, and the food... wow the food! Every dish was balanced, subtle, fresh, and each dish looked like a little piece of art. If you're into fine dining, The Restaurant at Newton & Johnson is a must taste! Absolute top of the bill kitchen. Big fat tasty compliment to N&J!

It is located in the extremely beautiful Hemel & Aarde Valley, and the view from the deck is truly amazing. The interior may not match the high level cuisine that is being practiced here, but you won't notice it anyway, because all you'll have eye for are your spoonfuls of deliciousness. We were here for Restaurant Week 2014 and were very lucky to be spoiled with some extra's the chef wanted us to taste. It's evident that chef Eric Bulpitt has a big love for food, local produce, and is a real expert. Throw in his creative and spontaneous character and every dish becomes a piece of art, without it being too far-fetched (as sometimes can be the case in other fine-dining restaurants...). I loved the colour schemes on my plate, and the subtle and perfectly balanced flavours. I think this restaurant is on its way to become #1 in SA soon. Very soon.

About The Restaurant at Newton Johnson
Cuisine: Fine Dining
The Restaurant at Newton Johnson is a modern South African eatery. A space where contemporary and bygone cuisine is combined with relaxed yet precise service. The restaurant showcases local, seasonal produce, bringing a piece of the Overberg to the table.
Chef Eric Bulpitt and his team have a common respect for nature and the produce it offers and, intelligently combine them on the plate. Together they are constantly discovering and sourcing new and forgotten ingredients. Preserving, pickling, fermenting, smoking and open fire cooking embodies their cuisine.
The kitchen is the place where creativity flows. Menus are concise, allowing for more focus and are constantly evolving with the seasons. There is a sense of freedom as the menus are spontaneously changed.
