The menu had 3 of my favourite foods on it. Squid, pork belly and carrot cake. So I was in food heaven. Amuse Bouche was rare fillet steak in lime and chilli sauce. Delicate and very tender. We both had the Squid - succulent and very tasty with miso mayo preserved ginger, ponzu and fresh pineapple and chilli chutney. I had the pork belly which was very tender with crispy crackling, celeriac, Apple purée preserved pears and roasted beetroot - divine. My husband the sirloin with onion purée. Herb butter Anna potato and Huguenot croquette - he had a huge smile on his face when he finished and pronounced it excellent. Amuse Bouche for dessert was chocolate pannacotta with granadilla sauce - very creamy and chocolatety. I had the carrot cake with orange curd, hazelnut ice cream and cream cheese - a yummy end to a fabulous meal. My husband had the caramel pannacotta with pecan caramel, sable Breton and brown butter ice cream - another beautific smile - Declaring it was superb. We had a lovely afternoon with beautiful views across the Paarl Valley. Voignier and syrah wines were very drinkable and moreish. A really lovely relaxing afternoon. The service was also perfect and very pleasant waiters. Stars all round for the food, wine, waiters and general pleasantness. We wafted home on a cloud of happiness and full of food. What could be better?
Went there three times now, as I cancelled a booking in another restaurant where there was no choice.
Here, at Glen Carlou choice out of 3 starters and 3 mains!
Big qty steak which I really enjoyed. No side platters necessary, as you will not be able to eat it all!
Small remark : squid starter was a bigger portion of squid last Friday than this Tuesday.
Service is perfect!
A classy restaurant with a beautiful view of the winelands. The food was absolutely superior and the service was excellent. Attentive without being in your face.
Very well run.
It is so nice to visit a restaurant that knows how.
No awkward arrival, no waiting for service.
Getting wine at real wine estate prices.
My only criticism that I could think of, is the balance between meat and the rest of the food on the plate is too "fine diningish" than we expected, the meat...

My only criticism that I could think of, is the balance between meat and the rest of the food on the plate is too "fine diningish" than we expected, the meat was more than enough though.
Overall a top 5 lunch experience.
Can't wait to go and try some of the other dishes.
