It was our first visit to Glen Carlou and we were both quite disappointed in the experience as a whole.
It was so special the food is beautiful art and the taste perfect.
The views are beautiful, but due to the windy weather we had to sit inside. The ambiance inside was not cosy. It is a large open area and it feels like you are sitting in a canteen. Food was very good though and the service was excellent.
We loved our 2-course lunch at Glen Carlou. The atmosphere was relaxing, and our waitress was very attentive and friendly (I think her name was Mercia). Each course was paired with a delicious wine at no extra cost. The strawberry creme brulee was flawless and the grilled venison dish perfect. Our only critique is that the cucumber jellies in the cucumber soup starter were a little bland, the beetroot slaw in the lamb shoulder dish was too sweet (however, we were told that the recipe was the chef's grandmother's which explains the sweetness.) and the salmon was a little overcooked but still tasty.
We walked away happy and will definitely go back for another lunch or dinner. This time with more of the Curator's Chenin!
Very high value for money restaurant with a chef consistently delivering very good quality food.
