He provided us with only one of the starters, as he asked for us to make a choice - which we did. Whereas we noticed that other patrons around us were not asked to make a choice and received both starters. The only selection to be made was with the main meal. The evening was lovely and I did not want to raise it as an issue then - I just believe that in future all staff must be made aware as to what is on offer. The food was absolutely divine and will definitely be highly recommended. The ambience was lovely, and the garden setting is beautiful.
My wife and I had the most enjoyable sunday lunch at Athol Place as part of restaurant week. The food was vert good, the service also very good, and the setting excellent. A very relaxed and enjoyable late lunch.
We will definitely return, maybe next time for dinner, and will be recommending this lovely boutique hotel tucked away in Sandton to our friends and colleagues.
The service was excellent and the décor of the restaurant gave this cozy and romantic feeling . The menu offered was fantastic. My best was the dessert. I will definitely come back.
Exceptionally tasty food, from my goat's cheese salad starter to my duck mains and sorbet inspired desert. Friendly and professional service by all staff we interacted with. This restaurant lacks service apart from the security guard. they cannot pour wine in time with dinners without being asked or the water. the starters arrive late. The food is typical of restaurants fooling the new couples who have little clue what they should get but go along with the charade.
Taste wise poor, quality wise ok. Ambience ok but you know its all about the service and this place does not get it , too much frenetic activity in eye shot and this with slow service on a slow day... take my advice and go elsewhere if you want a truly romantic experience. Pity.
