The wine tasting option is very generous, and the wines as divine as remembered. The atmosphere is very relaxed and homely, as one would expect from a family-owned estate, and it was a welcome alternative from the oft-commercialized operations of some other estates.
Then the food...oh, the food! There are restaurants that make excellent food, and then there are restaurants that make truly memorable food. The Eatery at Diemersdal serves the latter, and it was sublime! The fare abounds in delicate flavours, and is elegantly presented to match. We have nothing but praise for the chef, and the excellence in service runs from him right through to each and every waiter and waitress whose diligent but discreet attention was a pleasure to experience. Equally delightful was the pairing of a warm smile with every helpful interaction we had - a cornerstone of good service that is often missed elsewhere.
The location for this delightful culinary encounter is an old, rustic stable boasting a warm and inviting atmosphere in which one can truly relax; the kind of place that makes you feel at home - a recurrent theme throughout the experience, much to my delight.
Diemersdal doesn't only get it right - they knock it out the park, and it goes straight onto my list of "highly recommended". If you fancy a relaxed afternoon in an unassuming, unpretentious, but truly excellent atmosphere, head on over to the fine folk at Diemersdal...your tummy and your soul will thank you for it.
We have eaten here on a few occasions, food was awesome and then became just nice. Was delighted to see standards are high again with regards to the food. Service and ambience has always been great. Loved it, thank you.

About The Farm Eatery
Cuisine: French, Farm-to-Table
The Farm Eatery is a place where you can enjoy the flavours of the countryside and the relaxing farm ambience in an old stable, restored with care by the Louw family, where they’ve been making wine for six generations. Here locally grown and regionally sourced produce inspire Chef Martin De Kock to blend his classical French training with the flavours of Provencal France, Spain and a touch of Asia. The herbs and some of the vegetables are from the kitchen garden, the preserves and pickles home-made, and the bread freshly baked. A balance of traditional roots and tantalising countryside cuisine mixed with homely farm vibes, and edgy cooking. That’s how we roll.
Meet Martin, The Head Chef and Proprietor
Born in Pretoria, and schooled in Durbanville, Chef Martin de Kock originally had his sights set on a legal career and was accepted as a law student at Stellenbosch University. His mother encouraged his passion for great cuisine and swayed him to turn his talent for cooking into a professional career. And so, Martin went on to attend the prestigious Institute for Culinary Arts (ICA) in Stellenbosch.
Whilst studying, Chef Martin did practical stints at leading Cape restaurants, including the Green House at Cellars-Hohenhort in Constantia, and Overture in Stellenbosch. Chef Martin also worked at Jordan Restaurant under Chef George Jardine before moving to Diemersdal in 2014, where he has been Head Chef since its inception, establishing The Farm Eatery as one of the most popular culinary destinations in the Cape Town Winelands.
