We had a lovely table on the veranda with stunning views of the mountains and False Bay. The restaurant building is a beautiful confection of glass, steel, wood and local rock. The garden is scupltural with awe inspiring statues from the hands of Lionel and Anton Smit.
The meal totally complemented the surrounds.
The Amuse Bouche was a vibrant pink cold beetroot soup in a clear glass tumbler. Very moreish with hints of grapefruit cells in the soup.
A platter of homemade breads and rolls with creme fraiche and hot salts/pepper was a tasty morsel while we waited for the
1st course
This was a Porcini mushroom and goats cheese ravioli tossed in Beure Noisette and set on hazelnut soil with crispy basil and shaved black truffle. It was exceptional - I loath goats cheese but I bravely ate the meal. And wow! I think I have been won over. The mushrooms were finely cut and a lovely creamy flavour so the goats cheese did not overwhelm it with that strong earthy taste. Definitely in the 4* range
The Main course
Braised Pork Belly with apple, star anise and Pinot Grigio reduction served with pureed garlic potatoes and rustic vegetables. My idea of heaven on earth is pork belly and this did not disappoint. The belly was succulent with very generous portions. I battled to finish the meal but I bravely did. 5* rating. The small toffee apple was my undoing - divine!
A long break and then we had
Friandise
2 chocolates that melted in your mouth and 2 almond and orange biscotti I had with coffee. Nice ending to a beautiful meal.
The restuarant does not have a wine license yet but you can buy a bottle at the bar and drink it at your table. We had Idiom Viognier 2-13 John Platter 4* very drinkable and went well with the pork.

Absolutely a must for lovers of fine food, art and beautiful locations!

Some points to improve :
- better route indication of Idiom restaurant & wines is necessary
- no liquor licence yet
- service was excellent in the beginning, but a bit chaotic at the end

"Beautiful place and great deal during Restaurant Week!"

What a beautiful place with an amazing setting! We were sitting outside and it was a perfect sunny day so you could see all the mountains. The food was delicious with 2 extra small courses besides the 2 course lunch menu during Restaurant Week. What a magical place, can not wait to come back and share this place with other friends and family.
