We arrived promptly for our reservation at 19h00 as confirmed in my original booking and reconfirmed to me via email this week only to be told by local security that the restaurant was closed ! We drove around the block while I double checked my reservation and called the contact number ... reservation details were correct, number went unanswered... I understand "covid", but seriously, an email or phone call to say sorry we are not open would have been nice ! Some date night 😐

We certainly enjoyed our dinner at the Braairoom. I had a potjie dish for starter which was very nice even though I felt is was a bit undercooked and wasn't tender. My partner had crispy pork nuggets for his starter which was very very tasty. I loved it. The steaks we had for our mains was absolutely divine. For dessert, I had malva pudding. It was served with ice cream, but i felt it would have been better with a warm custard, after all this was a winter menu.

The chef/manager was attentive and kept checking on the patrons to check if we are happy with our meals.

The only thing i didn't quite like was that the waiters/waitresses were dressed too casually. I think they should have uniform as at some point we weren't sure if they were working there or not. I understand this is not a fancy restaurant, but it will look proper if the waiters are in uniform.

Otherwise, i did like the warm, casual ambience and will certainly go back.
