My friend and I had a lovely experience at La Vie en Rose. Fantastic service! We will definitely be going again.

It lacks the intimacy of the prior venue but is still very nice and very pretty. I feel the focus has changed from individuals to groups and functions but it was still better than most. The food was extremely tasty and well presented. Our waiter was lovely, service was a bit slow at first but he made up for it.
Very lovely ambience for a warm day in Johannesburg!
The setting is outside next to the country club lawns and a pool.

Firstly, we only had 3 set options, i.e. you had to choose between three options which were set starter, main and dessert so we didn't have the flexibility to choose from various starters, mains or desserts. Secondly, there were two fish options and a duck option for mains, so I was disappointed that there wasn't sufficient variety. And lastly, the food was ok.
I am not sure what their normal menu is like but not sure I'll go back again soon.

I love the clean and modern look of the venue. The complimentary platter to accompany our starters was a welcome surprise, and worked very well with our falafel and chicken liver starters. My falalel dish (Gypsy Sue) was my favorite of the day! It is a new dish they created especially for Restaurant Week and I really hope they add it the menu! I don't like aubergines and I even finished that part of the dish! The mains (Santa Rosa pasta and the Golden Gate burger) were very tasty as well. Pair that with great service - a lovely lunch experience!
