The dining room was nice, with high ceiling and a little 'pond' with fat koi fishes.
The staff was attentive and friendly.
The appetizer and dessert were well presented and the main dish tasted good, but overall food was rather generic and nothing special.
The service and food were very good. Welcomed and made to feel comfortable as soon as we got there. However, felt that we were being rushed. The food was very good. Could not complain. Although, for a Friday night, the place was very quiet! Overall it was a great experience.

The waiter did his best to entertain but unfortunately the overall experience was not up standard.

We chose the 3 course meal.
The first course was amazing, well flavoured pork belly with jasmine rice. The main course was chicken breast, which was salty, and when we mentioned this we were told was made by the sous chef and may have been a mistake.
The waiter did not offer to replace the dish, he just left it at that.
Course no.3 was an unbalanced dessert, there was so much going on I'm having difficulty remembering what it was.
My favourite was that the 2 "entertainers" a pianist and saxophonist spent most of their time there eating... which left us with no ambience at all. It felt like I was on a business trip catching a meal before bed. Nothing special.
Then came the kicker, I ordered a bottle of Graham Beck because it never disappoints. Only to find out that the Atrium charges R500 for a bottle of Cap Classique. When I enquired about why this was priced the way it was, the waiter told me it's because we chose to eat in Sandton!
LOL I live around the corner from the restaurant and have never had to spend R500 on a bottle of Graham Beck Brut.
Needless to say I will not be going back there any time soon.
I would never have ventured into the InterContinental had it not been for Restaurant Week and I can definitely say I missed out on some amazing meals up until now!
The food was incredible and the service was out of the world. The venue is also very relaxing and is worth a visit. I would recommend the Almond crusted Barramundi for main course - it will blow your mind!
Service in the beginning was poor. No one to seat us, no one to take our order, waiter had no idea about the menu.
Starters were average, main's were amazing (chicken and gnocchi) and the dessert was one of the best things I've tasted in my life (malva with berry crumble).
Overall felt like the food was good, but the dining experience didn't justify the price
