In architecture, an atrium is a large open space located within a building. Historically, atria are a popular design feature and this particular one stands out as a key decor piece of the building itself, providing an opulent "feeling of space and light" around you. I looked up past the palms to see a beautifully lit skyline that I am still worried my photographs will not do any justice to (but I will try). Softly lit intimate tables and booths, gentle lighting and fresh flowers on each table.. This hotel has done enough, in my books to be as good as any I have frequented in Europe and is a photographers heaven (I took over 100 shots last night).
Service: Food & Beverage Manager Themba Mpofu was on hand to greet and seat me, and introduce me to our lovely waitress Martha. From there the service just got better and better and I am pleased to give their service 5*. Even, Atrium's quirky and charming Head Chef Gregory Gautier, made an appearance to check on each and every persons meal to ensure that we were completely happy which really does go a long way in my books.
Onto the food: Beautifully presented dishes, with huge attention to details and garnishing, freshness and taste. From my freshly steamed Suldanah Bay Mussels with homemade pasta serviettes and mariniere butter to the Milk Tart Panacotta with typically South African Oumas rusk biscotta, I could not fault Chef Gregory. I love that he has managed to use local delicacies and international favourites to really make his own dishes stand out as unique.
A wonderful evening was had by all and I will return again and again.
