"Good food and service"

We received a friendly welcome and had great service during our visit. The food was really good, and looking at the rest of the menu, they have a lot more to offer. The acoustics are a little bad as it is quite noisy inside and we had speak up to hear each other. the restaurant is placed well. There is both street and underground parking at the towers next-door.

The food was awesome and its goes to show that the Bull Run have had a million customers through the doors. That been said it shows both ways as to the poor inconsistent delivery of service was a real let down for such a cool venue. A number of things our waiter got wrong: tried to argue with us that we cannot use the set menu, then we had to explain that yes we are here for the restaurant week menu : we asked for ice to accompany our wine which never came, until we had to ask again : no bowl of warm water was presented or wet wipes for the hands after eating the ribs: coffee was ordered with brandy, brandy did not arrive and the coffee was cold by the time the mistake was rectified. The restaurant was not busy but it seemed as if our waiter and others were catering for another restaurant.

"The "new" Bull Run"

We arrived early and there was a bit of confusion before we were seated. Once seated we were not served, eventually called a waiter over and he helped us until he could find our waiter. Food was really good aside from the dessert (creme brule) which was grainy and not nice at all.

Setting is amazing and worth a visit.

About The Bull Run

The Bull Run

The Bull Run opened its doors on 28 October 2000 to a welcoming crowd of South Africans and visitors from around the world. Situated in the ever-growing and bustling financial district, The Bull Run sits at the base of the Protea Hotel by Marriottยฎ Johannesburg Balalaika Sandton, a treasured destination for travellers.

Since the beginning, quality meat has been an integral part of The Bull Runโ€™s identity. Patiently matured and given the respect it deserves; each cut is prepared to customersโ€™ exacting standards.

In July 2018 The Bull Run reopened its doors after an extensive refurbishment. Award-winning interior designer Tristan Du Plessis of Studio A masterfully designed an experience that is both warm and welcoming, with a clever nod to the New York Stock Exchange and the classic NY grill house. Custom light fttings, plush furniture and handmade wall tiles contribute to the comfortable and evocative space.

The Bull Run takes its name from the financial term, referring to a period when prices rise on the financial market and any investment is a winning one. Our story continues, in honour of good food, great steaks, welcome travellers, and the growth and success of a market in one of the most beautiful, diverse and progressive countries in the world.
