I really appreciated the welcome drink, and the great atmosphere. The vibe was friendly and relaxed, even as a single diner, and the food was perfect for me (and the weather today). Absolutely would recommend! The only issue is when I look on the website at the standard menu prices, my total came out as 195, and for restaurant week the same two dishes were charged at 245
I think next time include the bubbly as an item, don't position it as a welcome drink....
Will definitely be back - great time at this cosy restaurant! The breakfast menu looks amazing too!

We were welcomed by a complementary glass of bubbles and a huge smile. The chef/bartender/waitron was incredible all round. Great dynamic team in the kitchen. Fantastic food. I will be back!

We invite you to smell and anticipate modern European daily inspired menus of small plates, mains and desserts. Swirl a glass of proudly South African wine over dinner or unwind after work at our separate bar section. Browse our retail shelf’s homemade delicacies and contemplate a recipe in our bespoke cookbook collection. Or talk to us as we prepare homemade flavours right in front of you. We are pet-friendly, follow the no-tipping movement, the first restaurant in Cape Town to serve Father Coffee and during the COVID-19 lockdown we are still open for business.

And welcome to Pilcrow & Cleaver, a new paragraph with a different twist, something that I have dreamt about and cooked into realisation for the last 15 years.
The passion for food started to pulsate through my veins from a very young age and for the last decade I have been on a culinary journey of exploration around the world. My travels have inspired me to find new dishes, experience unique flavours and taste different food to bring it all together and share it with you from my kitchen at Pilcrow & Cleaver, right here, in the vibrant heart of Cape Town.
Food is an experiment-experience that evokes emotion. It is not perfection, it’s about expression. Cooking is an art, and the kitchen is my canvas and I want you to join me as a create dishes with a modern flair; highlighting the different unique flavours of each and every ingredient.

Hi Kathleen, Thank you for your truly lovely review. Yes if you choose certain two courses they can be under R200, we try and cater to our local market so our dishes are costed at 33% but most of the main course dishes can be over R200 depending on the item. That is why we include the glass of bubbly too so it feels like a celebration. Thank you though for bringing this to my attention. We hope to cook for you again soon.
