Overall the starters were the best course, the most tasty atleast. The main meals were a bit unbalanced, very heavy and needed a vegetable or something to lighten them up. Dessert was also very unbalanced, I had the cheese cake which was very gelatinous and had too much accompanying jelly. There was no tartness that you expect from a cheesecake or that is suggested by the citrus theme of the dessert. A fresh citrus fruit salad or even a coulis would have been the perfect addition. The wine pairing was excellent and for that reason i would return to de Kloof.
Service was very slow. 1st course took forever to arrive. Food was very average.
This was the third restaurant on your restaurant week we have supported and the overall impression is the same, lackluster, can't be bothered attitude. We were there an hour and finished a bottle of wine before we even got a slice of bread , after repeatedly asking. The food was below average and not very tasty.

This was the third restaurant on your restaurant week we have supported and the overall impression is the same, lackluster, can't be bothered attitude. We were there an hour and finished a bottle of wine before we even got a slice of bread , after repeatedly asking. The food was below average and not very tasty.
One would think that restaurants would jump at the opportunity to showcase their best to attract new clientele and not treat one as out for a cheap meal and not important at all. We asked to view their normal a la carte menu for future reference but nothing happened. The best part of the evening was the espresso coffee at the end which was good.
Friendly reception, lovely ambience with a superb view. The menu was interesting and delivered on the experience. Combined with the wine pairing created for a lasting experience.
Thank you so much for a lovely evening. Its a pity that you had a function last night as the staff seemed to cater more to the function needs than to the people they were actually serving. We waited over 45minutes for a dessert course to be served, which really ridiculous. Your food was delicious none the less and we will be returning to try more of your delicious dishes!
