From the time of my arrival, I was given a very warm welcome.
The table was laid out with crisp white linen and the glasses and cutlery shone with confidence. Each time our waiter added a glass or extra cutlery, he made sure to shine it first such was their attention to detail.
The food was beautifully presented. We were treated to an amuse bouche of confit duck in polenta. This was delicious and I could have had a plate of these!
The bread roles that were served were little morsels of delight.
Our starter of trout pate was light and fresh. The braised beef was a tad salty, but this could have been due to the sauce reducing a little too quickly, but with the gnocchi (light on the insight and crisp on the outside) helped balance out the saltiness.
The pear salad was a new and interesting experience for me. It was a light salad that had a lovely combination of subtle flavours.
The highlight for me was the sea bass...it was cooked to perfection. Light and moist as fish should be. My friend had the pork neck and that was beautifully presented and beautifully cooked.
Dessert was the apple tart....which was an absolute dream. The honey comb had a slight bitterness that when combined with the crème patisserie was just delicious.
The chocolate torte accompanied with white chocolate mouse and chocolate ice cream was decadant and rich....a chocolate lovers dream!
The wine pairing was excellent and the quantities were more than adequate.
Definitely a place worth visiting again.

The service we received was absolutely faultless and the food unprecidented. We had a 4 course meal with a selection of beef short rib or seabass for our main course. Our table all selected the beef short rib which was cooked to perfection. The wine pairing included with the lunch was impecible with each wine complementing the dish perfectly. We stayed most of the afternoon as the ambience was stunning. We will definitely be going back to Clico.
Lovely boutique hotel restaurant, as it was a cold jhb day, the open plan glass doors were all closed. It's a pretty space with comfy chairs, a quaint fireplace and some nice flora accents, it's cosy.

Our set 4 course lunch menu was unique pairings of flavours, textures and wines. To start a roasted pear salad with goats cheese. The contrast of crunchy pear with the creaminess of goats cheese was divine, followed by a hallumi and artichoke plate. Both being vegetarian options were good. Mains were the choice of beef short rib and seabass. The beef was succulent and just perfect tender, seabass well cooked and delicate in flavour. To end the chocolate torte was absolute decadence. Each meal was beautifully presented and as served our waiter went through the details of the plate and wine pairing. Each of the dishes qualify as best dish for restaurant week 2017 summer edition. It was a fab lunch and with excellent food and service. Attention to detail was great and definitely a return spot for me.
